I Minnesota Timberwolves mettono sotto contratto il veterano Greg Monroe fino al termine della stagione e in vista dei play-in ed eventuali playoffs.
I Twolves sono sicuri del settimo posto nella Western Conference, risultato che li costringerà a passare dai play-in e dai Los Angeles Clippers per qualificarsi per la prima volta dal 2018, e per la seconda volta in ben 19 stagioni ai playoffs NBA. Chi vincerà tra Timberwolves e Clippers si qualificherà con la testa di serie numero 7, la perdente dovrà vedersela per la testa di serie numero 8 contro la vincente tra New Orleans Pelicans e San Antonio Spurs.
Greg Monroe, 31 anni, ha giocato in questa stagione 13 partite tra Minnesota, Washington, Milwaukee e Utah firmando dei contratti da 10 giorni come “rimpiazzo” Covid tra gennaio e febbraio, e i Timberwolves hanno deciso di confermarlo per la post-season. Monroe ha giocato 10 stagioni nella NBA soprattutto tra Pistons e Bucks, e anche in Europa col Bayern di Monaco e Khimki Mosca.
