Lettonia, in vista del Mondiale 2023 nel roster c’è anche Porzingis. Si avvicina sempre di più l’evento più importante dell’estate di pallacanestro mondiale. La FIBA Basketball World Cup 2023 si giocherà tra il 25 agosto e il 10 settembre, con le squadre che iniziano a diramare le proprie scelte. Ora, è il turno della Lettonia, che ha comunicato il roster di 16 giocatori che faranno parte della spedizione mondiale, come annunciato dalla federazione lettone sui propri canali ufficiali.
Un roster di assoluto livello: attenzione alla Lettonia al Mondiale
All’interno dei sorteggi dei gironi, alcune squadre sono state più fortunate di altre. Gli Azzurri, per esempio, hanno trovato una pesca abbordabile: Angola, Filippine e Repubblica Dominicana, insieme all’Italia di coach Pozzecco. Non può dire lo stesso la Lettonia, che è capitata in un girone di ferro con la Francia e il Canada, oltre che al Libano. Sarà un’impresa passare il turno, andando ad affrontare squadre con rose affermate sia in Europa che in NBA.

Il roster della Lettonia può dar fastidio a molte compagini presenti alla competizione. Il coach Luca Banchi ha comunicato i 16 giocatori che faranno parte della squadra fino alla selezione finale. La punta di diamante è, ovviamente Kristaps Porzingis, fresco di scambio in NBA. Il lettone ha lasciato gli Washington Wizards per i Boston Celtics, andando alla ricerca dell’anello NBA. Insieme a lui, altri giocatori di livello come Davis Bertans e Rodion Kurucs, anche se quest’ultimo è in dubbio per un infortunio.
